On Buses and Trains
Follow these tips to help stay safe on public transport:
- Don’t sit in an empty part of the bus or train to try make sure there are at least a few people around. Sit near the driver if there’s no one else around
- Keep an eye on your belongings – thieves and pickpockets can operate on public transport in some areas
- If someone sits next to you and makes you feel uncomfortable, move closer to the driver
- You don’t have to let people know where you are getting off
- If you can, have the right change or a travel pass. This way people do not see how much money you are carrying
